ES Windows Window Replacement: The Miami Owner’s Guide
If your ES Windows unit has a failed part, you’re in the right spot. We stock and install ES Windows-compatible window replacement parts across Miami, with most single-window replacements running $340 – $890 installed depending on the part and glass package. Most owners discover the problem the same way: a window that won’t close snug, condensation trapped between panes, or a crank that spins without moving the sash. Tell me what you’re dealing with, and I’ll tell you straight what it’ll take to fix it.
ES Windows builds their units in Colombia and ships them into South Florida through a network of dealers, which means Miami sees a lot of them. The brand is known for aluminum frames that handle salt air better than most vinyl competitors, but salt air is still salt air. We’ve been replacing ES Windows parts in Miami since we opened our doors here, and we know which components fail first on these units after a few hurricane seasons.
Which ES Windows Models This Applies To
ES Windows has produced several series over the years, and the part your window needs depends on which one you have. The most common lines we see in Miami are the ES9000, ES5000, and ES3000 series, plus the older Euroline and ES Windows Classic frames that predate the current numbering. Here’s the compatibility gotcha most owners miss: ES Windows changed its hardware profile between the Classic and ES9000 generations, so a roller assembly from a 2015 unit often won’t seat properly in a 2010 frame even though both say “ES Windows” on the label.
How to identify yours: open the sash and look at the sticker on the edge of the frame or the inside of the track. You’ll see a series designation (like ES9000) and a manufacturing date. If the sticker’s gone, measure the sash width and the visible-glass dimensions, and we can match it. For hardware, we’ll need to see or hear the part description: roller assemblies, crank operators, multi-point locks, weatherstripping, and balance systems (for hung windows) are the usual suspects.
On the OEM versus aftermarket question for ES Windows specifically: OEM hardware is what the frame was built around, and on multi-point locking systems we recommend staying with OEM. On rollers and weatherstripping in Miami’s climate, quality aftermarket equivalents from established hardware makers hold up as well as OEM at a lower price, and we’re upfront about which is which before you spend a dollar. We’re an independent provider, not affiliated with ES Windows, so if OEM is the right call, we tell you. If a solid aftermarket option saves you $90 and lasts the same five to seven years in coastal air, we tell you that too.
Signs Your ES Windows Window Replacement Is Failing
- Condensation or haze between the panes. This means the insulated glass unit’s seal has failed. Once the desiccant inside the spacer bar saturates with Miami humidity, you can’t dry it out from the outside. The glass unit gets replaced, not cleaned.
- The sash drags, sticks, or drops when you open it. Roller wheels on ES Windows slider and casement units wear flat after years of salt-air exposure and daily use. Once the bearing seizes, the frame starts grinding the track and you’ll see aluminum dust collecting in the sill.
- Crank handle spins but window barely moves. On casement and awning units, the operator gear is stripped. ES Windows operators are sealed units, so there’s no repair kit here, just replacement.
- Window closes but doesn’t seal tight against the frame. Weatherstripping on ES Windows is a compressed foam and rubber profile. After enough South Florida heat and UV exposure, it goes brittle and loses its spring. You’ll feel the draft first, then hear wind whistle during storms.
- Lock or multi-point handle feels loose or won’t engage. The lock mechanism connects to rods that run through the sash. When the gear wears, the handle turns but the shoot bolts don’t extend into the frame. That’s a security issue, not just a nuisance. Get it replaced.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included
Most ES Windows window replacement work in Miami falls into these ranges, installed:
- Insulated glass unit (IGU) replacement: $340 – $620 per sash depending on glass size, low-e coating, and whether it’s impact-rated
- Roller assembly replacement (set of 4): $110 – $240 including labor
- Crank operator replacement: $150 – $280 including labor and handle
- Multi-point lock replacement: $190 – $380 depending on lock style and whether rods need replacement
- Full window replacement (new ES Windows or comparable impact-rated unit): $1,100 – $2,400 installed per window based on size and glass package
The range on most jobs comes down to two things: whether your existing glass is impact-rated (which changes the IGU price) and whether the frame shows corrosion from years of salt exposure. We write the price before any work starts, no revised invoices at the door. Every replacement includes the part, the labor, cleanup, and our written guarantee on the work itself. If it fails within the guarantee period, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
If you’re handy, you can swap weatherstripping on an ES Windows frame yourself. It’s a peel-and-press job, and we’ll even tell you the right profile to buy. You can also replace a stripped crank handle cover without touching the operator. Beyond that, this work gets less forgiving. Rollers and locks on ES Windows units mean removing the sash from the frame, and some sashes weigh enough to strain a back or drop on a foot if you don’t have the lift-out procedure right. Glass units are the obvious line: if you drop an IGU, that’s a few hundred dollars gone in a second, and a cut from broken glass is worse. For anything structural, load-bearing, or glass-related, call (850) 753-2730 and we’ll handle it. The estimate’s free either way.
FAQs
Plan on 5 to 8 years for rollers, weatherstripping, and operator gears in Miami’s salt-air humidity, and 10 to 15 years for insulated glass units before seal failure becomes likely. Coastal homes closer to the water trend toward the low end of both ranges, faster if the windows face east into morning salt spray. Call (850) 753-2730 and we’ll tell you what your specific window’s age and exposure suggest.
On ES Windows units, weatherstripping is replaceable, but rollers, operator gears, and multi-point locks are sealed components meant for full replacement. There’s no rebuilt kit for ES Windows hardware. If the glass is fogged, the whole IGU gets replaced. Call (850) 753-2730 and describe what you’re seeing, we’ll tell you straight if repair is even on the table.
A single IGU or hardware replacement usually takes 45 to 90 minutes on site. Full window replacements run a half day for one window, a full day for three to five. We give you a committed arrival window when we schedule, and we show up in it. Call (850) 753-2730 to schedule a free estimate and we’ll get you on the calendar.
We stock rollers, weatherstripping, crank operators, and lock components for ES9000 and ES5000 series on our service trucks because those are the lines we see most in Miami. ES3000 and older Classic parts we quote and order within the same week. If you’re not sure what series you have, call (850) 753-2730 and we’ll help you ID it over the phone in about a minute.
Got an ES Windows window that’s failing? Don’t wait until the next storm finds the gap. Call (850) 753-2730 for a free estimate. We show up when we say we will, price the job in writing before any work starts, and stand behind the replacement with the Kingswell Guarantee. If it’s not right, we come back and make it right.
