Mr-Glass Sliding & Patio Doors: The Miami Owner’s Guide
If you own a Mr-Glass sliding or patio door in Miami and a roller, lock, or track is failing, Westlight Windows Miami stocks Mr-Glass-compatible parts and installs them for $165 to $520 depending on the component. Most repairs are done same-day. What usually brings the call: the door drags across the track, the handle spins without engaging, or the panel has settled enough to scrape the frame. We’ll match the right part to your exact door and get it moving the way it should. Call (850) 753-2730 and tell us what you’re dealing with.
Which Mr-Glass Models This Applies To
Mr-Glass is one of the eight manufacturer lines we install and service at Westlight Windows Miami, and their sliding patio doors share a lot of DNA across series. Most Mr-Glass sliders in Miami fall into two camps: standard rollers with adjustable steel housings, and heavier impact-rated panels that use reinforced tandem rollers. The compatibility gotcha: Mr-Glass changed their roller housing dimensions on some 2016+ series lines, so a roller that fits a 2013 door may not seat correctly in a 2019 one. Before we quote a repair, we ask for two things: the square white label on the door edge (it lists the series and manufacture date) and the width of the bottom channel. That tells us whether you need the older oval-profile roller or the newer rectangular-profile one. For locks, Mr-Glass uses a mortise-style latch on most sliders, and the strike plate spacing differs between their single-panel and multi-panel patio doors. We install genuine Mr-Glass parts when they’re available and a name-brand equivalent when the OEM component is backordered. In Miami’s humidity, the aftermarket path often makes sense for rollers since the stainless-steel bearings hold up better than the factory zinc ones, but we’ll always walk you through the tradeoff before we order anything.
Signs Your Mr-Glass Sliding & Patio Doors Is Failing
- The door drags or shudders when you open it. This is almost always a roller bearing that’s gone flat or a nylon wheel that has worn down to the hub. In Miami, salt air near the coast accelerates this faster than inland neighborhoods like Kendall or Doral.
- The handle turns but the latch won’t retract. Inside the lock is a small cam that rotates against the latch arm. When that cam strips, the handle spins free. It’s a small part but it means the door won’t lock until the entire lock assembly is replaced.
- The panel has dropped or binds at the top. This points to a roller adjustment screw that’s backed out or a housing that has cracked. When a slider droops, it puts pressure on the track, and that wears the track itself, which is a more expensive fix.
- You feel a breeze or see daylight through the closed panel. The weatherstripping along the interlock has compressed or torn. It’s a cheap part but in Miami it’s also the thing that lets storm water into the track channel.
- The track is dented or the door jumps when rolling. A dented track isn’t a roller problem, it’s a track problem. We see this when furniture or heavy foot traffic has beaten the bottom rail out of round, and the door will never roll smoothly until the track is repaired or replaced.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what you can expect to pay in Miami for Mr-Glass sliding and patio door repairs, parts and labor included:
- Roller replacement (single panel): $165 – $290 installed
- Roller replacement (multi-panel patio door): $240 – $390 installed
- Lock/latch assembly replacement: $120 – $210 installed
- Weatherstripping (full perimeter): $95 – $175 installed
- Track repair or section replacement: $220 – $520 installed
The range depends on the size of the panel, how many rollers the door uses, and whether the existing hardware is corroded enough to need drilling out. Every Westlight Windows Miami repair comes with the Kingswell Guarantee: a written price before any work starts, a committed arrival window, a clean job site, and a written guarantee on the completed work. If a repair fails within the guarantee period, we come back and correct it at no charge. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and it’s handed to you in writing, not waved at you over the phone.
DIY or Call Us?
A homeowner can diagnose the problem without touching a screwdriver: lift the panel and check if the bottom rollers are rotating, inspect the track for dents, and slide a dollar bill between the panel and frame to find where the seal is torn. Where DIY goes wrong on Mr-Glass doors is the removal. Sliding panels weigh 150 to 300 pounds depending on whether the glass is impact-rated, and lifting one out of its track without cracking the frame or dropping it onto the concrete is not a one-person job. The adjustment screws on Mr-Glass rollers also sit inside the bottom rail, and cranking them the wrong direction can snap the housing inside the door, turning a $200 repair into a full panel replacement. If the glass is impact-rated, a cracked panel can cost $800 to $1,200 to replace. If you want to try the diagnosis yourself, we’ll tell you exactly what to look for over the phone. If you want it fixed, we’ll send a background-checked, uniformed technician who does this every week. Call (850) 753-2730.
FAQs
Rollers on Mr-Glass sliders in Miami typically last 7 to 10 years before bearings wear or wheels mushroom, and that number drops to 5 to 7 years within a few blocks of the coast where salt air accelerates corrosion. Locks and weatherstripping usually need replacement every 8 to 12 years. Call (850) 753-2730 and tell us the age of your door; we’ll give you a straight answer on what’s worth replacing now.
Rollers and lock assemblies are replaceable components, not repairable ones, and we replace them rather than patch them, because a patched roller will fail again in a season. Weatherstripping and adjustment screws are the exception, they can often be corrected in place without new parts. Call (850) 753-2730 and describe the symptom; we’ll tell you which it is before we ever send a truck.
Most single-panel roller or lock replacements take 45 to 90 minutes at your home in Miami. Multi-panel patio doors or track repairs can run 2 to 3 hours because we remove multiple panels and re-set them on a level line. We bring the part with us when we can match it from your photos, and we leave the site cleaner than we found it. Call (850) 753-2730 to schedule a visit.
We stock the most common Mr-Glass roller sizes and lock assemblies on our trucks, and we stock parts for PGT, CGI, and CWS doors as well. If your door uses an older or less common Mr-Glass profile, we order it and schedule the repair the same week. Call (850) 753-2730 with the label information from your door and we’ll tell you on the spot whether it’s a same-day fix.
